SPECIALLY ADAPTED HOUSING FOR SERVICE MEMBERS

A Specially Adapted Housing benefit can be used for qualified veterans or service members who require a home designed specifically to meet their needs.

- It must be medically feasible for the veteran or service member to reside in the home.

- The home must be adapted to the veteran or service member’s needs.

The grants from the VA may be approved for:

 50 percent of the cost of building, buying, or remodeling adapted homes or paying off those homes already acquired, up to a maximum of $65,000.

 A guaranteed loan or a direct loan from the VA to supplement the grant to acquire a specially adapted home.
